RewardPay Document Verification Service Statement
RewardPay Ptd Limited (ACN 166 001 227)
Why we need to verify your identity
We need to verify your identity to make sure we are providing our Payment Service to legitimate customers, and not someone attempting to commit identity crime and to meet our legal obligations, including those under the AML/CTF Act.
How we verify your identity
We use the Australian Government’s Document Verification Service (DVS Hub) to verify your identity. We access the DVS Hub through Equifax, an approved Gateway Service Provider.
Equifax’s service allows us to check (with your consent) whether your Identity Documents are valid, not expired or cancelled.
If you do not have an Australian Identity Document we will not be able to provide you and the Organisation you are connected with the ability to use our Payment Service.
Match results
You provide your personal identification information from your applicable Identity Document to us. We pass this information on to Equifax who in turn, pass the information to the DVS Hub. The DVS Hub returns a ‘match result’ which confirms whether or not the identity information you provided to us from your Identity Document matches the information that the government agency that issues your Identity Document (known as the ‘Official Record Holder’) has on record.
In most cases, match results will return a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer to verify a record. In more limited cases, the Official Record Holder may also request additional information such as your name or photo. This may only happen where the agency has a legal authority to collect this information and is limited to the protection of people under an assumed identity or witness protection (referred to in the Identity Verification Services Act 2023 (Cth) as ‘shielded persons’).
Information stored by the Official Record Holder
Each Official Record Holder has its own secure system to store and protect the original record. In most cases, the DVS Hub accesses information direct from these systems.
In some cases, the DVS Hub accesses information from a third party that manages records on behalf of the Official Record Holder. For example, in the case of driver’s licence information, the DVS Hub checks your information with the National Exchange of Vehicle and Driver Information System (NEVDIS). Austroads Ltd operates NEVDIS on behalf of driver licencing authorities.
Information collected and stored by us
We collect from you the personal identification information contained in your Identity Documents. We transfer this information to Equifax through APIs. Once we have transferred the information to Equifax we delete it. We do not store this information.
We will comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), our Privacy Policy Statement and the Identity Verification Services Act 2023 (Cth) when we collect, use and disclose your personal identification information for identification verification purposes.
Consequences if you do not consent to our use of document verification services
If you do not consent to our use of Equifax and the DVS Hub to verify your identity, you and the Organisation you are connected with will not be able to use our Payment Service.
Your rights
If you have any complaints or concerns about our identity verification processes, please contact us at support@rewardpay.com.au . If we are unable to resolve your complaint or concern, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (https://www.oaic.gov.au/contact-us).
